I know love is great and all, but how do you know if you’re in love, or just really like someone?

A crush: you have feelings for them or so you believe you do. They give you butterflies. You pine for them. You wish you could be with them. If they hurt you, you would want to hurt them back.

Love: you have feelings for them, but they are reciprocated also, they have feelings for you as well. They give you butterflies, and you them. You pine for each other when your apart. You wish you could be with them when you cant, but treasure them when you can. If they hurt you, you love them enough to forgive them.

Oh wow I have been asking myself that same question for a long time now. I came to the conclusion that a crush is someone you like because of certain reasons. However, love is an extreme feeling that only you can decide or know if you are actually in love because it differs from people to people. Personally to me, if you love someone you will think about that person constantly and will make sacrifices for that person and have this strange feeling when that “certain someone” is around you or someone mention their name. A crush is more like a momentary feeling of like for someone. But as I mention before only you can decide if your in love.

To me there’s a huge difference, although you never realize it until you’re actually in love.

When you have a really big crush on someone, you could think you love them, but it’s just an infatuation that will pass with time. You’ll like them because of their looks, or some aspects of their personality, but there will be some small things that you just don’t like about the person. And it won’t really hurt all too much when something happens with them that upsets you, even if it does make you sad.

When you’re in love, however, it’s the most wonderful feeling on earth. If the person you love is someone you see a lot, then it’s almost impossible to be unhappy with anything pertaining to that person. You like every part of them, and even the things you may have previously found unlikeable, you now either see them as endearing or you don’t care and just focus on the good things. You could go on and on about what you love about them, and never get tired of saying you love them. They look like the most perfect thing in the world to you. You think about them more than anything else during the day, and would do anything to help them. You care about their happiness more than your own, because seeing a smile on their face puts one on yours. You would do anything to protect them, and feel extremely protective and possessive. (At least that’s me, not everyone acts exactly the same) If you were in love, then you would probably know it. It puts a warm spot in your chest that makes it pretty much impossible to be unhappy. But it takes time to fall in love. Because you have to know the person to have something to fall in love with. So love always just evolves from a really big crush.

Hope this helps =]
