Before I answer you question let me briefly discuss what is Love of God? I found the best description of the Love of God from this squidoo lens: http://www.squidoo.com/love-book-spirit-of-love

“Love of God is the only true and selfless love that exists and this true selfless love then gives rise to true selfless love for humans. Without the true love of God there can never be true love for humans and vice versa.”

“If you cannot love the person whom you can see, how can you love God whom you cannot see? If you cannot be faithful to a human how can you be faithful to God? “Faithfulness,” is the criteria Michael that God laid down for success – Eternal Success.”

Taken from “The Sacred Seduction”. I’ve read this love book and it opened my eyes.

Love of God is in fact the basis for the love of humans. The absence of this love is the reason of failure in any relationship. This is the love of God that acts as a glue to join a religious community.

How it acts as a glue? Through selfless love, selfless sacrifice, selfless help (charity)…

That’s why a true religious community prospers in a faster way than a non-religious community.

If there is disintegration in a community then it is only because of the true love of God being replaced by materialistic ideals.

There is a very wrong notion in religious communities about love. We also need to clear that. God has created love and and there is a relation between the two. “ is not bad”. It is just like God has created water and He has created fire. None of them is bad but the way we treat it is good or bad. Fire can both cook and burn, Same with . I said that because someone wrote something bad in one of the answers. That’s an example of something good used for a bad purpose.
